Select your settings in Edit Report. When your report appears, you have two routes to get the desired data. As long as you are a secure user with the correct permissions, there are two routes you can pursue. You can either select the Student Breakdown view by selecting ‘-All Graduates-’ from the Status dropdown, or you can click through the Snapshot view on the green bar to see your graduates.
Data was not applicable or unavailable for a few states with missing figures. Idaho did not begin to report adjusted cohort graduation rates until the 2013-14 school year.
The problems created at an individual level due to the lack of a high school diploma or GED affect society as a whole. Those who cannot find jobs cannot pay taxes, resulting in a loss of revenue for the government. For each cohort of 18-year-olds who never complete high school, the US loses $192 billion in income and tax revenue. Moretti estimates that by increasing the high school completion rate of males by one percent, the US could save up to $ billion annually in reduced costs from crime. A substantial amount of taxpayer money goes toward maintaining the prisons. And, in 2004, each high school dropout was responsible for nearly $100,000 in health-related losses. Because of these factors, an average high school dropout will cost the government over $292,000.

Often, alternative schools opened in the wake of "dropout factories" being shut down. The thinking was that these smaller, dedicated schools offer students much needed flexibility. They often hold classes in compressed morning or evening blocks and include wraparound services such as mental health counseling. They're meant to be supportive places where an overage senior coming back from a prison sentence, a pregnancy or a serious health issue, say, didn't have to feel ashamed or alone.
